What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s golf team will travel to Broomsfield, Colo., to compete in the Heather Farr Memorial/CU Invitational Oct. 1-2.

 

The tournament will be held at the Omni Interlocken Resort and will feature 36 holes the first day and end with final 18 holes Tuesday, Oct. 2.

 

The Field - The 20-team field will feature colleges throughout the west including five Western Athletic Conference schools. Representing the WAC will be Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, and Nevada. Also participating in the tournament will be Cal State - Long Beach, host Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State, San Diego State, UC Davis, Weber State, and Wyoming.

 

The Players - This will be the second tournament for the Broncos under the guidance of new head coach Nicole Harris who came to Boise State after serving five seasons as an assistant with TCU.

 

The Broncos will feature five returning players including seniors Nikki Olson and Amanda Nave, juniors Lindsey Shean and Mandi Hedberg along with sophomore Iris Ocariza.

 

At the Giustina Memorial Classic, Olson finished tied for seventh place with a 224 (+8) for the best finish of her Boise State career. During the 2006-07, Olson played in six tournaments for the Broncos and averaged 79.6 strokes per round. She posted her career low round at the BYU Dixie Classic with a 72 (E).

 

Hedberg earned her sixth top 25 finish in her career as she posted a 231 (+15) at the Giustina Memorial Classic. She has now recorded six top 25 finishes in her career. Hedberg ranks sixth on the Bronco’s list for season scoring average with 77.6 strokes per round. Hedberg recorded her season low in the first round of the UNLV Invitational with a 71 (-1).

 

Ocariza finished tied for 20th at the Giustina Memorial Classic to register her sixth top 25 finish in 12 collegiate tournaments. Last season, Ocariza tied the school record for a low round last season by shooting a 69 (-3) in the first round of the Baja Invitational. She ranks ninth on the season scoring list with a 77.8 average. Last season, she posted five top 25 finishes to tie for 10th on the Bronco’s all-time list.

 

Shean participated in eight tournaments for Boise State during the 2006-07 and averaged 80.2 strokes per round. She posted a season low of 76 (+4) in three different round throughout the season. He lone top 25 finish came at the Bronco Invitational when she tied for 20th. At the Giustina Memorial Classic, Shean recorded a 237 (+21) to finish tied for 31st place.

 

Nave will be participating in her first tournament since the 2006 Bronco Invitational. During her career she has played in five tournaments for Boise State, registering 81.2 strokes per round and a low round of 75 (+3).
