BOISE, Idaho (7/8/2011) - Boise State University's Lori Harper and Jenna Leurquin have been named All-America Scholars by the National Golf Coaches Association. The NGCA released their list of academic honorees this week from their headquarters in Coral Springs, Fla., among those listed were Harper and Leurquin. The Western Athletic Conference had 10 athletes recognized for this prestigious honor, while the Mountain West had 15 (not including Harper and Leurquin). This marks the second consecutive year that the Broncos' Harper, a junior-to-be, has received this honor, while it is the first such honor for Leurquin who will be a sophomore next year.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Lori Harper just completed her sophomore season for Boise State. She was one of three Broncos who competed in all 12 competitions during the year finishing with a 79.8 strokes per round average. The sophomore from Manhattan Beach, Calif., who is double majoring in political science and business is a two-time Academic All-WAC honoree with an 3.69 accumulative grade point average.
Jenna Leurquin just finished her freshman campaign competing in all 12 tournaments for Boise State. The native of Brussels, Belgium, finished the year with a team second-best 78.8 strokes per round average. The international business major was an Academic All-WAC honoree this past year with a 3.79 accumulative grade point average.
