Women's Golf Adds Finigan
June 29, 2018

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's golf coach Nicole Bird announced the addition of Tara Finigan (Coto de Caza, Calif./Tesoro HS/Portland State), on Friday. Finigan will join the Broncos as a senior with one season of eligibility remaining, and is eligible immediately thanks to NCAA's one-time transfer exception.

"I'm very excited to be adding Tara to our roster this fall. She is a tremendous player who brings leadership and experience to our team," Bird said. "She's proven herself with her three wins and making the All-Big Sky team last year.

"This is exactly what we need to get off to a strong start this fall. Tara is a fun person to be around, and will fit in perfectly with our team."

Finigan will join Boise State with impressive credentials after a standout three-year career with Portland State. She twice made the All-Big Sky team, finishing on the second-team as a sophomore before earning first-team honors this past spring.

She also established a new Portland State school record for scoring this past season, averaging 73.76 per round while leading the team in seven tournaments on the season. Finigan has won four tournaments over her career - including three this past season - and has been named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week five times in her career. Her career scoring average of 75.03 ranks second on the Viking record book.

The rising senior will enter Boise State as a stellar student as well, earning Academic All-Big Sky honors in both her freshman and sophomore years. The Big Sky has yet to announce their spring 2018 Academic All-Big Sky teams.

The Broncos relied on four underclassmen at this past season's Mountain West Championship, and Finigan will become the team's third senior on the 2018-19 squad. Finigan will be joined by incoming freshman Cora Mickelsen as Boise State's newcomers.
