Hedberg, Huebert Finish in Top 15 WAC Championships
SAN JOSE, Calif. Boise State University freshman Mandi Hedberg finished tied for fourth at the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships, April 26, setting a school record along the way.

Hedberg, who led the event after the second round following a tournament-low 2-under 70, finished with a three-round total of 229 (+13) at the par-72, 6,193-yard Coyote Creek Country Club. Hedberg led the field in par-4 scoring (4.10), and with nine birdies, had two more than anyone else in the tournament.

She finished only two strokes back of the individual champion, Jenelle Gomez of tournament-host San Jose State. The three-round total was only one stroke back of the Bronco women’s record for lowest score at a conference championship.

Hedberg’s second-round score is the lowest at a conference championship in Bronco women’s history, and her finish at the event was the third-best for a women’s golfer at a conference championship. Only Marie Beasley, who finished tied for third at the 2003 WAC Championships, and Shawna Seiber, who captured the individual title at the 1993-94 Big Sky Championships, had better finishes at a conference championship.

Junior Lindsey Huebert recorded the best conference championship finish of her career, finishing tied for 14th with a 235 (+19). The finish was Huebert’s second of the season in the top 25, and the fourth of her career. She also had one of only two eagles recorded during the three-round event.

Thanks to a final-round 74 (+2), the lowest score of the day, junior Katie Street finished in the top 25 at the WAC Championships for the third-consecutive year. Street, who was named Second Team All-WAC, finished tied for 21st with a 241 (+25). The finish moves Street into a tie for third place (Daniella Wall-Thompson) for top 25 finishes in a career with 16.
