Young Remains in Top 10 at MW Championships

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. –
Boise State junior Hayley Young remained in the top 10 following the second round of the Mountain West Women’s Golf Championships, Saturday.

Young carded a 4-over-par 76 at the 6,208-yard Wigwam Resort Gold Course, and her two-round total of 151 (+7) has her tied for ninth headed into Sunday’s final round. She is three strokes back of the top five.

Sophomore Jenna Leurquin improved on her first-round performance, posting a 5-over 77 on day two. She moved into sole possession of 18th place with a 36-hole total of 157 (+13).

Tied for 19th place - one stroke back of Leurquin - are redshirt junior Michelle Gooding and junior Lori Harper. Senior Maria Santisteban rounded out the scoring for the Broncos at the conference championships with a two-round total of 172 (+28).

Boise State dropped to seventh place, and will enter the final round three strokes back of Wyoming with a team score of 624 (+48). The Broncos are also just seven strokes back of a fourth-place tie between No. 47 UNLV and No. 48 New Mexico.
