Boise State Finishes Sixth at WAC Women's Golf Championship...
MESA, Ariz. (4/21/2010) - Boise State University’s women’s golf team struggled during the final round of the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., firing a 325 (+41) this afternoon. The Broncos finished the three-day tournament with a final team tally of 947 (+95) to place sixth out of seven teams. Defending champion San Jose State University captured the team title with a 918 (+66), one stroke better than second-place University of Hawai’i (919, +67).

Iris Ocariza led Boise State throughout the competition finishing with a 20-over 233. The senior from Hawaii fired a 12-over 83 in today’s final round to tie for 13th-place. Fresno State’s Hali Coppin rallied in the final round firing a 2-over 73 to capture the medalist honors with a final tally of 8-over 221.  

Freshman Hayley Young recorded the Broncos’ top final-round score with a 9-over 80 this afternoon. The Hawaii native finished 17th overall with a final tally of 23-over 236. Freshman Jennifer Henningsson was third on the team overall with a 25-over 238 (79-78-81) tying for 19th.  Senior Minhee Park (81-78-85) and freshman Lori Harper (81-82-81) ended the WAC championship tied with 31-over 244s. 

The Club Glove WAC Women’s Golf Championship concludes the 2009-10 season for the Boise State women. The Broncos lose their two seniors Iris Ocariza and Minhee Park who completed their collegiate careers this afternoon. However, Boise State does return three current sophomores and four freshmen for next year’s campaign, there were no juniors on this year’s roster.
