Ocariza Tied for Sixth...

MESA, Ariz. (4/20/2010) - Boise State University’s women’s golf team matched yesterday’s score firing a 311 (+27) during today’s second round of the Club Glove Western Athletic Conference Championship at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. The Broncos moved from sixth into a tie for fifth-place with Fresno State with a two-round score of 622 (+54). San Jose State University continues to lead the team competition extending its advantage to two over Hawai’i and 16 strokes a head of Boise State with a team tally of 38-over 606.    

On the individual side of the tournament, Iris Ocariza leads Boise State carding a 5-over 76 during today’s second round giving her a tournament total of 8-over 150. That places the senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, in a four-way tie for sixth-place. Kayla Mortellaro of the University of Idaho has taken the individual lead with a 5-over 147. 

Freshman Hayley Young has the second-best Bronco score recording an 8-over 79 this afternoon. She is now in sole possession of 15th with a total of 14-over 156.  One stroke back is fellow freshman Jennifer Henningsson who sits at 15-over 157 (79-78). Senior Minhee Park shaved three strokes off her score from Monday with a 7-over 78 giving her a 159 (+17). Rounding out the Boise State scoring was freshman Lori Harper at 21-over 163 (81-82). 

The final round of the WAC championship will take place tomorrow morning at Longbow Golf Club.  The third session will begin by tee times at 7:30 a.m. (Mountain). The Broncos will teeing off with New Mexico State beginning at 8:10 a.m.  The winning team of the WAC Golf Championship earns the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Regionals in early May.
