Bronco Women Head To WAC Championships
What’s Happening The Boise State University women’s golf team travels to San Jose, Calif., to compete in the 2006 Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships, April 24-26.

The three-round tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,143-yard Coyote Creek Golf Club. The event will consist of 18 holes each day, Monday through Wednesday.

The Teams Including Boise State, seven WAC schools sponsor women’s golf. Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico State, and tournament host San Jose State will also be competing.

WAC History Boise State’s best showing at the WAC Championships came in 2003, when Marie Beasley led the Broncos to a fourth place team finish. Beasley finished third individually, posting a three-round total of 228 (+12).

The Players - Junior Katie Street posted top 25 finishes in each of her first two WAC Championships, with her best finish coming last season when she tied for 15th with a 231 (+15). This season she has posted a scoring-average of 77.2, a mark that sits fourth on Boise State’s all-time list. Her victory at the Wolfpack Invitational this season was the first of her career, and only the 10th in school history.

Junior Lindsey Huebert has also competed in each of the past two WAC Championships, with her best finish coming in 2004 (T-28th). Huebert recorded the third top 25 finish of her career this season at the Spartan Invitational.

Three Broncos, sophomore Britney Hayes, and freshmen Mandi Hedberg and Lindsey Shean, will be competing in the WAC Championships for their first time.

Hayes has finished in the top 20 in two of her last four tournaments. She finished tied for 20th at both the Kitahara Invitational and Spartan Invitational.

Hedberg posted the first top 25 finish of her career at the Bronco Invitational earlier this season. She just missed recording her second at the Oregon Duck Invitational, where she finished tied for 26th.

In her debut season, Shean has played in each of the Broncos’ nine tournaments, posting two top 25 finishes.
