Broncos Sit in 13th After Day One of Baylor Spring Invitational...
WACO, Texas (4/12/2010) - After the opening day of the Baylor Spring Invitational the Boise State University women’s golf team finds itself in 13th place out of 16 teams. The Broncos opened the day firing a 330 (+42) during the first round then rallied in the second. Boise State shaved nine strokes off its previous score to tally a 321 (+33) during the afternoon session to move from 15th into 13th place by the end of the day with a team score of 75-over 651. Their host Baylor University leads the team competition carding a two-round score of 28-over 604.

On the individual side of the tournament senior Iris Ocariza recorded the Broncos’ lowest two-round score with a 14-over 158 (80-78) to  finish the opening day in a seven-way tie for 27th. Jaclyn Jansen of Baylor sits atop the leaderboard with a 1-over 145.

Five strokes back of Ocariza was freshman Jennifer Henningsson who carded scores of 86 and 77 to finish the day at 19-over 163, tied for 50th. She is followed by classmate Lori Harper who turned in two rounds at 82 for an overall tally of 20-over 164, good for a tie at 58th.

Rounding out the scoring for Boise State was sophomore Maria Santisteban who shot 24-over 168 (84-84) and freshman Hayley Young with a 25-over 169 (84-85).  

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at the Two Rivers Golf Club in Waco, Texas.
