Young Still Leads Broncos after Second Round

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Boise State junior women’s golfer Hayley Young is tied for 15th after the second round of the Cowgirl Classic Tuesday, and will enter the final round two strokes back of the top five.

Young followed her opening-round 73 (+1) with a 4-over-par 76 at the 6,184-yard Ocotillo Golf Resort, and will be looking for her 12th-career top-25 finish, which would be tied for eighth-most all-time at Boise State.

Just two strokes back of Young is fellow junior Lori Harper, who also posted a second-round 76 (+4). Her two-round total of 151 (+7) is tied for 31st, one back of the top 25.

The duo has Boise State in 12th place in the 24-team field with a total of 612 (+36). In the final event before the Mountain West Championships, the Broncos are a stroke ahead of tournament host and league foe Wyoming.

Junior Jennifer Henningsson posted a 1-under 35 on the back nine, notching a 78 (+6) for the day. She is currently at 160 (+16) for the tournament.

Sophomore Jenna Leurquin (156; +12) and redshirt junior Michelle Gooding (157; +13) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

The final round of the Cowgirl Classic will begin with tee times Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. (MT).
