COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State sophomore Genevieve Ling has been named the Mountain West Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.

The honor is the first of her career, the first for a Bronco since Samantha Martin garnered the accolade, April 9, 2014, and the third by a Bronco since Boise State joined the Mountain West for the 2011-12 season.

Ling rallied from a one-stroke deficit in the final round of the Cowgirl Classic April 7, firing a 1-under 71 at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club to capture the individual title at the tournament.

Ling is the third-straight Bronco to earn at least a share of medalist honors at the Cowgirl Classic. Hayley Young won the event as a senior in 2013, and Martin, now a junior, tied for first place at last year's edition.

Ling entered the final round amidst a group of three trailing the tournament leader, Emelie Lundstrom of San Francisco, by a stroke. Ling's sub-par final round was one of only six such scores on the day, earning her the first tournament victory of her Bronco career.

She concluded the event with an even-par 216 (72-73-71).

Ling grabbed sole possession of the final-round lead with a birdie on the par-4 14th hole, and led by as many as three before ultimately finishing one stroke clear of her nearest competitor. She put together 16-straight bogey-free holes - including a pair of birdies - before dropping her first shot of the day.

Ling is one of only 10 Bronco women's golfers to win a tournament all-time, and the victory is just the 15th in school history.
