With round one behind them, the skies cleared down in Florida to let the sun shine as the Boise State women’s golf team completed the Canes and Cardinal Classic with a 14th place finish in the event despite firing their lowest single round score of the spring season with a 301 in the final round, Tuesday.

The bright spot of the day came during the second round of competition as senior Nikki Olson knocked 14 strokes off her first round score to fire a season-low 72 (E), tying her career best. Olson’s hot streak continued as she recorded a 76 (+4) in the final round, finishing the competition knotted in a tie for 52nd.

Tying up the competition was Iris Ocariza who, despite struggling in the second round, tied her season-low for the second time during the tournament with a 74 (+2) during the final round. Ocariza concluded the classic with 232 (+16) to finish in a five-way tie for 52nd.

After posting a 76 in the opening round of the tournament, junior Mandi Hedberg withdrew from the second round of competition, before returning to fire a 74 (+2) to close the classic.

Rounding out the contingent for the Broncos was sophomore Minhee Park who shot a 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for 62nd, while teammate Lindsey Shean completed the tournament in 70th.
