ST. GEORGE, Utah The BoiseStateUniversity women’s golf team shot a 618 (+42) to stand tied for eighth place through two rounds of the 16-team BYU Dixie Classic hosted at the Entrada Golf Course at SnowCanyon.
The Broncos began opened the tournament shooting a 309 (+21) in the first round and followed it with an identical 309 (+21) in the second. BoiseState’s 42-over is just below the tournament average of 42.6-over par.
Mandi Hedberg led BoiseState golfers as she shot a 10-over 154 to stand tied for 25th place and remain within striking distance of the top 10 entering the final round of play. Hedberg shot a 75 (+3) in the first round and a 79 (+7) in the second round.
Senior Katie Street is tied for 30th place with teammate Nikki Olson at 11-over 155.
Street was tied for third place at even-par 72 through one round of play but shot an 83 (+11) in the second to fall back from the leaders. With a top 25 finish, Street will take sole possession of first place on the Broncos’ all-time top 25 finishes list.
Olson posted a career low-round in the second when she shot a 72 (E) after registering an 83 (+11) in the first. Olson’s previous career-low was the 76 (+5) she recorded at the 2006 Bronco Fall Invitational. Her even-par score also bested her career-best round in relation to par by five stroke.
Lindsey Shean shot a 79 (+7) and an 80 (+8) to stand tied for 51st place with a 15-over 159.
Iris Ocariza recorded a 161 (+17) through two rounds of play to stand tied for 63rd place.
The final 18-holes of the BYU Dixie Classic will be held Wednesday, Apr. 4 beginning with at (MT) with a shotgun start.
