Duck Invitational on the Horizon for Boise State

What’s Happening The Boise State University women’s golf team will be competing in the 2007 Oregon Duck Invitational Mar. 26-27, at the par 72, 6,096 yard Shadow Hills Country Club at Junction City, Ore.


The event will tee off with 36-holes Monday, Mar. 26, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. (PT). The final 18-holes will be played Tuesday, Mar. 27, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. (PT).


The Teams The 14-team tournament will feature Boise State, Central Arkansas, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho State, Montana State, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State, San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas-San Antonio, Washington State, and Wyoming.


The Players The Boise State squad will feature senior Katie Street along with Mandi Hedberg, Iris Ocariza, Nikki Olson and Lindsey Shean.


Street enters the tournament second in top 25 finishes for a career with 19. She is averaging 77.1 strokes per round during the spring. Street also ranks sixth on the Broncos all-time list for career top 10 finishes. At the Baja Classic Street finished tied for 27th with a 156 (+12)


Hedberg hails from Twin Falls, Idaho, and is averaging a team-best 75.9 strokes per round including 75.1 during spring competition. She recorded two top 20 finishes in three fall tournaments. Hedberg tied for seventh at the Baja Classic with a 152 (+8) and tied for 28th at the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational. Hedberg has stepped her game up from the fall giving the Broncos another consistent presence atop the lineup.


Ocariza tied the school record with a 69 (-3) in the first round of the Baja Classic and finished tied for seventh. Ocariza posted two top 25 finishes in five fall tournaments including leading Boise State at the Bronco Invitational with a 226 (+13) to tie for 11th. She ranks sixth on the Broncos all-time list for the season scoring average with a 77.6. In the spring, Ocariza had averaged 77.1 strokes per round.


Shean has played in two of three spring tournaments and is averaging 80.8 strokes per round. Her best round of 78(+6) came in the second round of the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational.


Olson played in two fall tournaments registering 79.8 strokes per round average while posting a career-low 76 (+5) at the Bronco Fall Invite. She played in the UNLV Spring Invitational and averaged 78.3 over the three rounds of the tournament.
