KANE’OHE, Hawaii (3/17/) Noelle Zavaleta finished the second day of the Donnis Thompson Invitational tied for 11th place after carding a 78 (+6) Tuesday afternoon. The freshman continues to lead Boise State who tallied a team score of 314 (+26) during round two. Overall the Broncos find themselves in eighth place after two of three rounds with a 620 (+44), 22 strokes back of current leader Idaho who stands at 598 (+22).

Senior Mandi Hedberg turned in the best second round score for Boise State Tuesday with a five-over-par 77. The senior from Twin Falls, Idaho, moved from a tie for 27th into a three-way tie for 25th with a 156 (+12).

Zavaleta’s 78 combined with her first round score of 73 on Monday has the freshman sitting in a tie for 11th place with a seven-over-par 151. She is seven strokes back of tournament leader Kayla Mortellaro from Idaho with an even-par 144.

Rounding out day two for Boise State were junior Iris Ocariza with a six-over-par 78 giving her a total of 159 (+15). Senior Lindsey Shean fired a 81 Tuesday for a combined two-day score of 160 (+16), while junior Minhee Park struggled Tuesday with a 11-over-par 83 for a tournament total of 158 (+14) which ties her for 30th.

The tournament concludes on Wednesday with the third and final round at the Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course on O’ahu. The Broncos will try to climb up the standings tomorrow as they begin the final day of competition six strokes out of fifth place.
