Boise State Women's Golf Heads to Arizona for the Northern Migration Invitational...

Boise State University’s women’s golf team is off to Arizona for its second spring tournament. The Broncos will take part in the University of Nebraska’s Northern Migration Invitational in Florence, Ariz., this week. The 19-team competition begins Monday at Poston Butte Golf Club. There will not be any live scoring for this event, results will be available following each day’s competition.

► Recently for the Broncos
Boise State is coming off a solid week of competition March 1-5. The Broncos placed eighth out of 14 teams at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif., March 1-2. In California Boise State carded a 916 (+52) and was led by senior Minhee Park who shot a three-round score of 7-over-par 223 to place tied for 12th. They followed that with a dominating victory in a dual with Idaho State. Against ISU on Friday, March 5, at BanBury Golf Club in Eagle, Idaho, the Broncos defeated the Bengals 310 to 347 taking six of the top-seven places out of 16 golfers. Freshman Hayley Young led Boise State with a 3-over 74 followed by senior Iris Ocariza with a 4-over 75.

► Northern Migration Invitational Tournament Format
The format for this tournament calls for three rounds played over three days. The first 18 holes will be played on Monday, March 15, followed by the second round on Tuesday with the final 18 staged on Wednesday. The competition will begin each day with tee times starting at 8:10 a.m. (Mountain).

► The Host Course
The Northern Migration Invitational is being held at Poston Butte Golf Club in Florence, Ariz. The club features  a 6,227 yard course for this event for a par 72.

► The Field
Overall the field features 19 NCAA Division I institutions. In addition to two WAC schools the competition also includes five top-60 teams according to Golf Stat’s March 10th national rankings.  The institutions participating this week are WAC members Boise State and No. 36 Idaho; other nationally ranked teams include No. 45 Texas Tech, No. 49 East Tennessee State, No. 51 Iowa State and No. 59 Minnesota. The remaining field includes: the host school Nebraska, Bradley, Eastern Michigan, Florida International, Kansas, Kansas State, Montana, Morehead State, Northern Arizona, Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, Texas - San Antonio, Towson and Wichita State. Over 90 collegiate athletes will compete for the team and individual titles.

► Boise State’s Tournament Roster
The Bronco lineup for this week includes both seniors in Iris Ocariza and Minhee Park, and three freshmen in Hayley Young, Jennifer Henningsson, and Lori Harper. Park will open at the number one position, Ocariza will follow at the second position, with Young at the three, Henningsson at the four and Harper rounding out the roster at the fifth spot.
