Broncos Continue Season in Utah
March 11, 2016

BOISE, Idaho- Looking to build off of last week’s success at the Fresno State Classic, the Boise State women’s golf team will compete at the BYU Entrada Classic, Mar. 14-15, hoping to put together another solid team performance.

The Broncos took second as a team at the Fresno State Classic, Mar. 7-8, their best outing as a team with four Boise State golfers placing in the top 25, led by junior Genevieve Ling’s tie for second place finish.

The BYU Entrada Classic will be played on the par-72, 6,168-yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah.

“We love this tournament and this course,” Boise State head coach Nicole Bird said. “We get to stay with host families who live on the course and it’s great to see them year after year. They all volunteer at the event so it’s like our own cheering section when we get to their holes. It makes us feel like Bronco Nation is there with us.”

36 holes will be played Monday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday with the tee times TBD.

Competing alongside the Broncos and host BYU will be Dixie State, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa, North Texas, Rutgers, San Francisco, Southern Utah, UT-San Antonio, Utah Valley, Weber State, Wyoming and Yale.

Boise State placed third in the team standings at the 2015 edition of the tournament, Mar. 16-17. All five members of Boise State’s line-up finished in the top 25 – including top 10 finishes from Ling and then junior Samantha Martin.

Competing for the Broncos will be:

  1. Genevieve Ling
  2. Samantha Martin
  3. Sammie Pless
  4. McKenzie Ford
  5. Adara Pauluhn

Martin has finished in the top 20 at three consecutive tournaments to open Boise State’s spring season. Ling is looking for her third consecutive top 20 finish.

“We’ve been playing better and better each event so hopefully that continues this week as well,” Bird said. “We are just looking at it as practice for the Mountain West Conference tournament and want to get prepared.”
