Broncos to Travel to Fresno

BOISE, Idaho- The Boise State women’s golf team will continue their spring season at the Fresno State Classic, Mar. 7-8.

“We are looking forward to getting back out on the road again after some good practice at home,” Boise State head coach Nicole Bird said. “The tournament has moved to a new course this year so we are looking forward to the venue and getting to play somewhere new.”

The two day tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,127-yard San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, Calif.

Competing in the field alongside the Broncos and host Fresno State will be Cal State Fullerton, Florida Golf Coast, Georgetown, Grand Canyon, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico State, Portland State, Rutgers, Sacramento State, Santa Clara and Seattle University.

84 total individuals will compete in the three round tournament, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. PT on Monday.

Competing for Boise State will be:

  1. Samantha Martin
  2. Genevieve Ling
  3. Sammie Pless
  4. McKenzie Ford
  5. Kinsley Bonfilio

Martin and Ling both finished in the top 20 at The Gold Rush, Feb. 22-23. Martin will also be looking for her third consecutive top 20 finish.

Bonfilio will be making her second career appearance in the Bronco’s line-up. The freshman competed as an individual at the Rose City Collegiate, Sept. 28-29, and was a member of Boise State’s line-up at the Santa Clara Colby Invite, Oct. 19-20.

“Hopefully this is the week we put it all together and start playing as a whole team,” Bird said.
