► What’s Happening
Boise State University’s women’s golf team opens the spring season this week at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The 14-team competition begins Monday at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif. ► Recently for the Broncos
The last time the Broncos competed was the first week of Nov. 2-3 at The Challenge at Onion Creek in Texas where Boise State carded a season-low score of 907 (+67). Sophomore Katie Somers recorded a team-best 12-over 222 to tie for 64th place.

► The Tournament Format
The format for this tournament calls for three rounds played over two days. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday, March 1, at 9:00 a.m. (Mountain) with a shotgun start. The third round will be conducted on Tuesday starting at 9:00 a.m. (Mountain) with tee times.

► The Tournament Course
The Fresno State Lexus Classic is being held at Fresno’s Copper River Country Club which features a 6,077 yard course for this event, a par 72. Copper River Country Club features an 18 hole par 72 Championship Golf Course designed by architect, David Pfaff. This course, set up on the undulating terrain of the Sierra Nevada base, features water on 7 of the 18 holes.

► The Field
Overall, the field features 14 NCAA Division I institutions. In addition to four WAC schools the competition also includes three top-50 teams according to Golf Stat’s national rankings.  The institutions participating this week are WAC members Boise State, host Fresno State, Nevada and No. 37 San Jose State;  other nationally ranked teams are No. 23 UC Davis and No. 36 UC Irvine;  Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Cal State Fullerton, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Seattle, Portland State and Gonzaga. UC Irvine is the defending champion. Over 70 collegiate athletes will compete for the team and individual titles.

► Boise State’s Tournament Roster
The Bronco lineup for this week includes both seniors in Iris Ocariza and Minhee Park, and three freshmen in Hayley Young, Jennifer Henningsson, and Emma Dahlqvist. Ocariza (averaging 77.5 strokes per round) will start at the number one position, Park (avg. 81.2 spr) is playing the number two, followed by Young (avg. 78.7 spr), Henningsson (avg. 82.8 spr) and Dahlqvist (avg. 88 spr).
