Broncos Prepare for Gold Rush

The Broncos will head to warmer weather this week and compete in the Gold Rush at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif., on Monday, Feb. 27 and Tuesday, Feb. 28.

WHEN: The first round will go off at 8 a.m. (PT) with a shotgun start on Monday morning and the second 18 will go off later in the afternoon. The third and final round will also begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Boise State will begin the opening round on holes 11-15 with golfers from Colorado State and Ole Miss.

LAST TIME OUT: The Broncos (320-314-319 = 953) competed in the Texas State Invitational on Feb. 13-14 at The Bandit Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas, and finished in 15th place as a team. Genevieve Ling (76-79-72 = 227) was able to use a late charge in the third round to post a 1-over 72 to tie for 12th place individually. The senior was 3-over through 11 holes in her final round, but was able to birdie two of her last seven to secure her best round of the tournament. The top-25 finish is the 20th of her Bronco career.

Dana Clary (82-78-81 = 241) and Adara Pauluhn (79-79-83 = 241) both tied for 63rd place. Kinsley Bonfilio (83-81-83 = 247) tied for 75th and contributed the final counting score for the Broncos in the third round. Valentine Lacaze (86-78-85 = 249) excelled in the second round, but was unable to carry the momentum into the final round. Boise State will return to competition at The Gold Rush in Seal Beach, Calif., at Old Ranch Country Club from Feb. 27-28.

2016 GOLD RUSH: The Broncos finished in seventh (912 = 309-299-304, +48) at last year’s Gold Rush with Ling (75-76-73 = 224, +8) tying for 18th place individually. Graduated senior Samantha Martin (77-70-76 = 223, +7) was the top finisher for Boise State in tying for 15th.
