Women's Golf Opens the Spring Season South of the Border

What’s Happening The Boise State University women’s golf team is set to travel to Baja, Mexico, to compete in the annual North Illinois Baja Women’s Golf Classic at the Bajamar golf course.

The Teams The field at the tournament will feature 15 teams including Boise State, UAB, Birmingham Southern, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Oregon, Texas Tech, UC Riverside and UNC-Greensboro.

The Players - The Boise State women’s golf team is led by returning seniors Katie Street and Lindsey Huebert.

Street enters the tournament second in top 25 finishes for a career with 19. She also posted a personal-best scoring average in fall play with a 76.5. She also ranks sixth on the Broncos all-time list for career top 10 finishes.

Huebert posted a 78.5 stroke average in five fall tournaments. She posted a career-best 72 (E) at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational.

Also competing in the Baja Women’s Golf Classic are sophomores Lindsey Shean, Mandi Hedberg and freshman Iris Ocariza.

Hedberg hails from Twin Falls, Idaho, and registered a 76.6 scoring average in the fall. She recorded two top 20 finishes in three fall tournaments. She also posted the best round score for Boise State during fall play with a 71 (E).

Shean played in four of five fall tournaments and posted a 79.0 scoring average. She also posted a top 25 score at the Bronco Invite.

Ocariza posted two top 25 finishes in five fall tournaments including leading Boise State at the Bronco Invitational with a 226 (+13) to tie for 11th. Ranks ninth all-time for the Broncos in season scoring average.
