Martin, Young Lead Broncos in Fall Finale
WAHLAWA, Hawai’i – Boise State women’s golfers Hayley Young and Samantha Martin each finished tied for 13th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Wednesday, leading the Broncos in their final event of the fall season.

Young, playing in her home state, posted rounds of 75-74-77, finishing at 226 (+10) at the par-72, 6,228-yard Leilehua Golf Course. The senior finished in the top 25 in each of the Broncos’ four tournaments this fall, and now has 16 for her career – tied for the fifth-most all-time at Boise State (Daniela Wall-Thompson; 1992-95).

Martin notched her third-straight top-25 finish after shooting 75-75-76 (226, +10).

Martin and fellow freshman McKenzie Ford carded the lowest scores of the day for the Broncos, each shooting 76 (+4). Ford recorded the best finish of her young Bronco career, finishing tied for 26th, one stroke back of the top 25 (76-77-76—229, +13).

The Broncos finished in seventh place as a team, just seven strokes back of the top five. After back-to-back rounds of 302 (+14) on the opening day of the tournament, Boise State closed with a 307 (+19) to end at 911 (+47) – the team’s second-lowest score of the fall season.

Rounding out the scoring for Boise State were freshman Sammie Pless (80-76-78—234, +18) and senior Lori Harper (76-77-85—238, +22).

Boise State will continue its season next spring, starting with the Folino Invitational in Industry, Calif., Feb. 17-19.
