SAN JOSE, Calif. - Led by sophomore McKenzie Ford, the Boise State women's golf team is in first place following the opening round of the Colby Invitational, Monday.

Ford fired a career-low 1-under-par 71 at the 6,146-yard Silver Creek Valley Country Club, and will enter the final round just one stroke back of tournament leader Sadie Strain of Santa Clara (70, -2).

Ford and Strain are the only individuals in the field at par-or-better.

Each of Ford's four teammates is in the top 20, contributing to a team score of 303 (+15). The Broncos will enter Tuesday's final round with a two-stroke lead over Cal State Northridge (305, +17), and a nine-stroke lead over tournament-host Santa Clara (312, +24).

Fellow sophomore Samantha Martin joined Ford in the top 10, and is currently tied for seventh place following an opening-round 76 (+4).

Freshman Dana Clary is tied for 11th (77, +5), sophomore Sammie Pless is tied for 18th (79, +7) and redshirt junior Jenna Leurquin is tied for 20th (80, +8).

Boise State will be looking for its second win in its last six tournaments Tuesday, dating back to a 19-stroke victory over Xavier at the Cowgirl Classic, April 8-10, 2013.

The final round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. MT, though today's round was delayed due to fog.
