Broncos Break Records at Price's Invitational
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Boise State women’s golf team set the school record for lowest single-round team score Wednesday at the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Invitational, en route to the lowest three-round team total all-time.

Boise State fired a 3-over 291 in the final round, moving into fifth place as a team at the par-72, 6,258-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course.

The final-round score bested the previous mark of 294, set in the second round of the Bobcat Desert Classic, March 9, 2004.

The Broncos finished the three-day tournament with a school-record team total of 893 (+29), three strokes better than the previous record of 896, set at the Heather Farr Invitational, Sept. 29-30, 2008.

“I am so proud of this team,” head coach Nicole Bird said. “They’ve worked extremely hard and were very focused the first two rounds, putting us in a good position. Today they came out relaxed, ready to make birdies. It was exciting to see the great start, and they remained steady the whole round. They did an excellent job of making Bronco history today.”

Senior Hayley Young notched her second-straight top-10 finish, posting a final-round 72 (E) to move into a tie for seventh place. Her three-round total of 219 (73-74-72; +3) is a career best.

The finish marks her eighth-career top 10 finish, and gives her sole possession of second place on Boise State’s all-time list. Marie Beasley (1999-2003) currently holds the school’s standard.

Freshmen Samantha Martin and Sammie Pless each tied for 15th with 54-hole totals of 222 (+6), giving the Broncos three individuals in the top 20 for the second-straight tournament.

Pless fired a career-low 1-under 71 in the final round, notching her first-career top-25 finish (78-73-71). She moved 33 places up the leaderboard following her final two rounds.

Martin (72-78-72) posted her second-straight top-25 effort with her finish, which included career-low even-par 72s in both the first and final rounds.

Freshman McKenzie Ford (78-76-76—230, +14) and senior Lori Harper (78-79-78) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos, who were one of just four teams in the 13-team field not to record a score of 80-or-higher.

The Broncos were the only team in the field to accomplish the same feat earlier this season at the Oregon State Invitational.

Boise State will continue its fall season at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Oct. 30-31, in Honolulu.
