BOISE, Idaho - Sophomores Samantha Martin and Sammie Pless each finished tied for 12th place at the Price's "Give `Em Five" Invitational Wednesday, leading the Boise State women's golf team.

Martin carded a final-round 1-over 73 at the 6,258-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course, finishing with a three-round total of 221 (74-74-73, +5).

She and Pless (74-71-76) each finished one stroke back of the top 10.

Martin's streak of three-straight top-10 finishes ended, but she currently owns a streak of four-straight top 25s. Pless has finished in the top 25 in two of the Broncos' three tournaments this season.

The duo paced the Broncos, who finished in seventh place.

Boise State carded rounds of 299-293-300 en route to a team score of 892 (+28), the second-lowest three-round total in school history. The mark trails only an 882 (+18) achieved earlier this season at the Bronco Fall Invitational, Sept. 16-17.

"Overall I am pleased with our scoring, as everyone played pretty consistently," head coach Nicole Bird said. "I wish we would have finished a little higher, and we really need to work on our final-round scoring. Once that gets a little lower, we will be right there.

"For a really young team, we are quickly making great strides, but there are a few minor things we need to work on to see ourselves back at the top of the leaderboard. We are headed in the right direction, and I'm excited about the possibilities in our final two fall events."

Portland State won the tournament at 867 (+3), and the Vikings' A Ram Choi won individual medalist honors at 208 (-8).

Freshman Genevieve Ling (74-72-80--226, +10), sophomore McKenzie Ford (77-76-76--229, +13) and freshman Dana Clary (80-76-75--231, +15) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

The Broncos will continue their fall season at the Colby Invitational in San Jose, Calif., Oct. 21-22.
