LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Boise State women's golf team combined to fire a school-record 3-under 285 during the second round of the Price's "Give `Em Five" Invitational Tuesday, the first sub-par single-round team score in school history.

The round was the lowest of the day in the 14-school field, and moved the Broncos into fourth place after starting the day in eighth.

Juniors McKenzie Ford and Samantha Martin each fired rounds of 2-under 70, sophomore Genevieve Ling posted an even-par 72, and sophomore Dana Clary and junior Sammie Pless each shot 1-over (73).

"I'm really proud of this team and its ability to grind," head coach Nicole Bird said. "They had the right combination of focus and energy today, and they played solid throughout the 18 holes. The progress they're making is amazing, and our process is starting to pay off."

The previous school record, a 289 (+3), was set during the second round of last year's Fresno State Classic, March 17.

With the 2-under rounds of 70, Martin moved into a tie for eighth place at 143 (73-70, -1), while Ford moved into a tie for 14th at 145 (75-70, +1). Ling is also tied for 14th, following an opening-round 73 (+1) with her second-round, even-par 72.

Pless is just one stroke back of the top 25 (76-73--149, +5), and Clary is two strokes back (77-73--150, +6).

The Broncos will enter the final round within five strokes of second place, and one stroke back of third. Idaho leads the tournament at 5-under (571).

The final round is slated to begin with an 8:30 a.m. (MT) shotgun start, and live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
