FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Freshman Alejandra Lobelo made a strong impression in her first action in the Blue and Orange. Lobelo shot 3-over on the week (72-74-73 – 219) to finish just outside of the top 10 at tied for 13th at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic, Tuesday.

The top 25 finish is the best debut for a freshman Boise State women’s golfer since Genevieve Ling won the Bronco Fall Invitation (Sept. 16-17, 2013) in her debut.

Lobelo was also fourth in the 84-individual field at par-3 scoring, averaging 2.83 strokes.

"I'm very pleased with Ale's performance in her first event," head coach Nicole Bird said. "She made a lot of birdies and stayed very focused during her rounds. She handled everything really well and has excellent course management. I think she will be very strong for us this season, and I am excited to see what she can accomplish!"

Boise State shot a combined 913 (308-300-305, +49) on the par-72, 6,348-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.

The Broncos debuted one of their youngest teams during the tournament. Coming into the week, the starting line-up had only appeared at a combined 22 NCAA events. Three Broncos (Lobelo, Ivane Helias and Lexi Perry) also made their NCAA debuts – the most since three opened their careers at the 2013 Bronco Fall Invitational.

Helias and Perry contributed to Boise State’s youth movement as the next two Bronco scorers. In her first NCAA action after spending the previous two-seasons at NAIA Bellevue University, Helias carded a 229 (78-74-77, +13).

Perry, a freshman, was a stroke behind Helias at 14-over (77-74-79 – 230).

Adara Pauluhn carded her best round of the weekend with a score of 76, Tuesday, to close the tournament on a high note. The junior finished the weekend with a score of 241 (81-84-76, +25).

Sophomore Jalayne Martinez (85-78-85 – 248, +32) rounded out the scoring for Boise State.

The Broncos will return to action at the Nebraska Intercollegiate, Oct. 1-3.
