FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Boise State sophomore women's golfer Genevieve Ling fired a 2-under 70 in the final round of the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic Tuesday, finishing in the top 10 to lead the Broncos at their opening tournament of the 2014-15 season.

Ling, who entered the day in a tie for 20th, moved into the top 10 with her final-round score, which was tied for the lowest round of the day in the 90-woman field. She concluded the tournament with a three-round total of 218 (74-74-70, +2) at the par-72, 6,352-yard Ptarmigan Country Club, earning her third career top-10 effort.

"I'm proud of Genevieve for her mental toughness," head coach Nicole Bird said. "It got really windy and rained hard through the last six holes. She managed to stay steady with pars and birdies, and didn't let the conditions get to her."

The Broncos carded rounds of 303-306-304, finishing in 13th with a team score of 913 (+49).

"Overall, I'm happy with the consistency we had this week," Bird added. "I've always said we need to shoot more consistent scores before we can really drop and break 300 on a regular basis, so this is a great foundation.

"This was a strong field and it showed us that we can play with a lot of these teams. We just need a few adjustments to avoid the big numbers. We made a lot of birdies which was fun and good to see."

Mountain West rival San Diego State captured the team title with an 870 (+6), and the Aztecs' Emma Henrikson took home medalist honors with a 5-under 211.

Rounding out the scoring for the Broncos were juniors Samantha Martin (74-76-80--230, +14) and McKenzie Ford (75-78-78--231, +15), and sophomores Oceane Pelloille (80-78-79--237, +21) and Jamie Donizio (84-78-77--239, +23).

Next up for the Broncos is the Oregon State Invitational, scheduled for Sept. 15-16, in Corvallis, Ore.
