Boise State senior women’s golfer Samantha Martin shot two-under 70 in the final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic to move nine spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for sixth place.

Martin (73-75-70 – 218, +2) led a charge of three Broncos finishing in the top 20 in the team’s regular season finale at the par-72, 6,231-yard Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.

Sophomore Genevieve Ling joined Martin in the top 10 with a three round score of 220 (75-70-75, +4) to finish tied for ninth.

Senior McKenzie Ford shot 223 (76-71-76, +7) to finish in a tie for 20th.

Boise State shot 888 (300-290-298, +24) to finish in a tie for fourth with Mountain West Conference rival Nevada.

The Broncos were one of two teams in the field to have three individuals record at least one round under-par.

“This was our best event so far this season,” Boise State head coach Nicole Bird said. “We had very consistent play and that’s what we need before we head to the conference championship in two weeks. We are starting to find our rhythm and be able to score, even when we don’t hit it perfect or miss some shots.”

Seniors Sammie Pless (76-74-77 – 227, +11) and freshman Adara Pauluhn (78-84-85 – 247, +31) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

Boise State will now hope to carry their momentum to the MWC Championships, April 18-20 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
