Broncos Fall to Michigan, UC Irvine at Farms

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The Boise State women's golf team dropped each of its two matches at the San Diego State Farms Invitational, a match-play tournament, Tuesday.

The Broncos had dropped to the consolation bracket via defeat at the hand of 22nd-ranked Arizona State Monday, and fell to Michigan and UC Irvine Tuesday, at the par-72, 6,199-yard Farms Golf Club.

Against the Wolverines, junior Samantha Martin, playing at No. 1, defeated Grace Choi, 3-up. Fellow junior Sammie Pless halved her match against Kathy Lim at No. 4, but Boise State lost matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 5.

In the second match of the day, the Broncos earned wins at Nos. 4 and 5, as Pless and junior McKenzie Ford each notched their first victories of the tournament. Ford won 3&1 against the Anteaters' Breanne Jones, and Pless won 1-up against Kristin Henno.

UC Irvine captured matches at Nos. 1-3 however, sealing the victory with a 1-up win over Martin, her first loss of the tournament.

Boise State is scheduled to take on Nevada in the final match of the tournament Wednesday, with tee times off the back nine beginning at 8:45 a.m. MT.
