Ling Leads Broncos at Spring Opener

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Boise State freshman Genevieve Ling is one stroke back of the top 25 after the opening day of the Jim West Challenge Monday, the first event of the spring season for the Broncos.

Ling carded rounds of 78-79 at the par-71, 6,178-yard Bandit Golf Club, and will enter the final round tied for 27th at 157 (+15).

She is one of four Broncos within three strokes of the top 25 entering Tuesday's final round.

Sophomore Samantha Martin and freshman Oceane Pelloille are just one stroke back of Ling, each carding rounds of 75-83 (158, +16), and sophomore Sammie Pless is two strokes back of her freshman teammate following an opening-day 159 (76-83, +17).

Boise State is in ninth place with a team score of 631 (+63). The Broncos were tied for fourth place after shooting 303 (+19) in the opening round, but dropped to ninth place with a 328 (+44) in the second.

Freshman Jamie Donizio rounded out the scoring for the Broncos with a 161 (77-84, +19).

Tuesday's final round is slated to begin with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. (MT). Live results are available HERE.
