Feb. 14, 2016

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas- Three-and-a-half months away from competition did little to slow down Samantha Martin.

In the first tournament of the spring season, the Boise State senior women’s golfer enters Monday’s third and final round of the All There August Challenge tied for 15th.

Martin’s score of 148 (79-69, +6) on the par-71, 5,885-yard Landa Park Golf Course is only two strokes back of the top 10. Her second round score of 69 – fueled by five birdies – was the second lowest single round score in the field.

"Sam just mad a lot more birdies in the second round because her putting was a lot better," Boise State head coach Nicole Bird said. "She didn't make as many mental mistakes and was able to focus a little better on some of her shots."

Martin has 17 top-15 finishes in her Boise State career.

The Broncos are in tenth in the team standings with a score of 620 (318-302, +52).

Junior Genevieve Ling is tied for 44th with a score of 155 (77-78, +13). Ling led the field in the first round in par-5 scoring at one-under-par, and was tied for third in the field with three birdies.

Senior McKenzie Ford (80-81 – 161, +19), junior Oceane Pelloille (82-77 – 159, +17) and freshman Adara Pauluhn (86-78 – 164, +22) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

The third round will begin Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live results can be found at BirdieFire.
