Boise State Tops Pepperdine 68-57

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's basketball team picked up a solid 68-57 win over Pepperdine Sunday (Nov. 20) afternoon remaining undefeated at home. The Broncos (3-1) shot 41.7 percent from the field and 72.4 percent from the free-throw line to outmatch the Waves' (1-3) 31.7 field goal and 63.6 free throw efforts.

Senior Kati Isham led the Bronco charge, racking up 22 points, while junior Lauren Lenhardt added 14 points and six rebounds. Isham was key in the first half helping the Broncos come back from a quick 9-0 deficit in the first two minutes. The senior from Howe, Idaho, knocked down three-straight from beyond the arc to tie the game at 11-11 with 12:37 on the clock. She went on to finish 4-7 on the night from the three-point line. Lenhardt helped push the Broncos to their first lead at 9:17 in the first half, after four-straight points. From there the Broncos never lost the lead.

Boise State ramped up their defense midway through the first half, holding the Waves scoreless for over three minutes. They continued pressing on the gas, coasting to 33-23 lead at the half.

The second half was a very defensive game with only free throws being made from the 12:30 mark to the 8:02 mark for either team. Boise State was included in that window earning four points only from the charity line from the 9:50 mark to the 5:35 mark in the second half. Pepperdine was able to close the deficit to six-points late in the game, trailing 61-55 with 1:18 left, however Boise went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the final minute, closing to a 68-57 win.

Redshirt senior Nicole Brady and junior Kinzi Poteet led shared the top mark for rebounds in the game, each grabbing 10. Brady added six steals to her stats while sophomore Cinnamon Lister added six assists and senior Heather Pilcher tallied two blocks.

Jazmine Jackson led the Waves with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Skye Barnett added two assists and Robie Mayberry had three steals.

The Broncos hit the road this week taking on Utah State in Logan, Utah, on Wed., Nov. 23 at 7:00 p.m. They return to Taco Bell Arena on Sun., Nov. 27 when they face UC Riverside at 2:00 p.m.
