Brooke Pahukoa, Preseason All-MW
Oct. 28, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (10/28/2015) - Boise State’s women’s basketball team has been projected to place third in this year’s Mountain West Conference race as announced Wednesday from Colorado Springs, Colo. Voters on the league’s preseason poll were comprised of the 11 head coaches and members of the media from each market. In addition, Boise State junior Brooke Pahukoa was named to the MW Preseason All-Conference Team.

Colorado State led the preseason team poll picking up 237 points with 12 first-place votes, the Rams are the defending regular season champions. New Mexico was close behind CSU receiving 221 points and seven first-place votes. Boise State was six points back having received 215 points and six first-place votes.

The Broncos are the defending MW Tournament Champions and are coming off a NCAA appearance last spring. Boise State returns three starters from that squad in Miquelle Askew, Brooke Pahukoa and Yaiza Rodriguez Ortego.

Brooke Pahukoa was named to the preseason all-conference team and is the only Bronco named to the squad. This is her first such preseason honor at Boise State. She is coming off an outstanding season where she was named the MW All-Tournament Team and the Most Valuable Player. Pahukoa was second on the team in scoring averaging 10.4 points per game while shooting 40 percent from the floor, 37 percent from the 3-point arc and 89 percent from the free-throw line.

Last March Pahukoa led Boise State against Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with 22 points, the second-most scored in an NCAA Tournament game by a Bronco in school history. She hit each of her first seven attempts from the floor en route to 18 first-half points, and finished the game going 9-for-12.

Fans will have their first chance to see the 2015-16 Broncos next Friday, Nov. 6, when they open an exhibition doubleheader in Taco Bell Arena against Southern Oregon at 5:30 p.m. The regular season begins on Friday, Nov. 13, when Boise State host Cal State Los Angeles in Bronco Gym at 7 p.m.
