BOISE, Idaho - Gordy Presnell, Boise State’s head women’s basketball coach, announced today that he has entered into an agreement with the University of Washington for a home-and-home series. The series will begin this season with the Broncos traveling to Seattle on Dec. 11th, the return game will take place during the 2017-18 campaign.

Last year the Huskies went 26-11, reached the NCAA National semifinals and finished the season ranked eighth nationally by USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Coaches poll. They return 2016 WBCA All-American senior Kelsey Plum who was recently named an Athlon First Team Preseason All-American selection for this fall.

“We are excited about the opportunity to go play the Huskies,” said Presnell. “Obviously it is a going to be a big game, they went to the final four last year and return a good nucleus from that team this year. This will be a good measuring stick for us and help prepare us for conference play.”

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since November of 2008. Washington leads the all-time series 19-4, including a 74-51 victory in Seattle the last time these two met on Nov. 23, 2008. The Broncos last victory came in Boise on Dec. 7, 2007 by a 88-66 score.

The Broncos will start preseason practice on Oct. 4 with a roster of 15 players, eight returners and seven newcomers. Boise State returns four starters from last year’s 19-11 season including 2016 All-Mountain West honorees Brooke Pahukoa and Shalen Shaw, 2016 MW Freshman of the Year Marta Hermida and four-year starting point guard Yaiza Rodriguez.

Boise State will host the University of Alaska (Fairbanks) in an exhibition game on Nov. 6, followed by the regular season opener versus Southern Oregon in Taco Bell Arena on Nov. 13.
