Lee Helps Canada to Sweep of Japan and U.S.

PUERTO MONTT, Chile (7/27/2011) - Canada swept a pair of games Tuesday and Wednesday over Japan (3-3) and the United States (5-1) to win  Group E's number one seed into the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Championship for women's basketball in Puerto Montt, Chile.

Boise State University's Diana Lee played in both games helping the Canadians to a 68-60 victory over Japan yesterday and a 64-52 win over the U.S. this afternoon.  Lee did not score much in either contest recording one rebound in 10 minutes versus Japan, followed by one point, one rebound, and one assist against the Americans today.

Canada (6-0) is one of two unbeaten teams remaining at the tournament with Australia (5-0) putting its unbeaten mark on the line in the final game tonight against once beaten Brazil (5-1). The tournament will take tomorrow off before beginning the quarterfinals on Friday when Canada will take on either Spain, Chinese Taipei or Chile, the fourth seed out of Group F.
