PUERTO MONTT, Chile (7/25/2011) - Canada opened the round of 12 at the FIBA U19 World Championship for women's basketball by defeating Russia 66-50 Monday afternoon in Puerto Montt, Chile. Boise State's Diana Lee played 14 minutes at point guard where she recorded two points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals, both her points came form the free-throw line (2-2).
Canada's 16-point victory in the second game of the day keeps them perfect at the competition with a 4-0 mark, they entered the second round as one of four undefeated teams. The Canadians continue to be one of the top scoring teams in the tournament even though they were held to their lowest point total of the competition with 66 points versus the Russians. To date, Canada is averaging 79 points per game and allowing 51. Next up for Lee and her teammates is Japan tomorrow afternoon in Puerto Montt, Chile, followed by the United States on Wednesday.
