Boise State Alumna Deanna Weaver Named to All-Tournament Team in China

WENSHAN, China (July 19) - Boise State alumna Deanna Weaver was named to an all-tournament team in Wenshan, China, during the first leg of the Four Nations International Basketball Tournament July 17-19. Weaver, a May graduate of Boise State, is currently playing for an USA All-Star team put together by NetScouts Basketball. The Four Nations is a nine-game competition being held throughout China and featuring teams from the United States, China, Denmark and Poland.

During the first three-game leg of the competition that was played in Wenshan, China, July 17-19, Weaver helped the USA All-Stars to a 2-1 record.

Weaver nearly recorded a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds in the opener as the USA defeated Poland 53-39 on July 17. On the second day, July 18, of the event Weaver hit 4-of-5 3-pointers as she scored 14 points in a 63-53 victory over Denmark. On Sunday, July 19, the USA All-Stars suffered their first setback of the tournament as China rallied past the Americans in the fourth quarter for a 74-67 win. Weaver scored a team-second-best 17 points for the USA in the loss. During stage one the former Bronco scored more with each game finishing the three-game leg averaging 14.7 points per game.

The all-tournament team for Wenshan City, saw China’s Zhiting Zhang grab MVP honors. The USA’s Cierra Warren and Deanna Weaver were named along with Ida Tryggedsson (Denmark) and Barbara Skowronek (Poland).

The team will head to Chenzhou in Hunan Province of China for the next three-game leg from July 21-23 and then to Shenzhen to play the final stage from July 25-27. The team departed for China from Los Angeles on July 13th and is scheduled to return to the United States on July 28th.

The NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars include: Ariel Thomas, 5’7, PG, (Oregon/Czech Republic), Keena Mays, 5’7, PG (SMU/Israel), Deanna Weaver, 5’11, G/F (Boise State), Keani Albanez, 5’10, G (Gonzaga), Alexyz Vaioletama, 6’1, F (USC), Stephanie Lee, 6’1, F (Northern Colorado), Joy Burke, 6’5, C (Arizona State/Denmark) and Cierra Warren, 6’5, C (San Diego State/WNBA/Bulgaria). The team will be coached by Ryan Johnson of Idaho State and assisted by Drew Muscatel.
