BOISE, Idaho (6/2/2010) - Gordy Presnell, Boise State's head women's basketball coach, announced today the addition of Carly Perkins who signed a financial aid agreement to join the program next year. Perkins is a 6-1 forward out of Kelso, Wash., and is expected to play as a trail post for the Broncos. The addition of Perkins brings this year's recruiting class to five members joining junior college transfer Kati Isham, and freshmen to be Janelle Kearney, Diana Lee, and Cinnamon Lister.
"Carly will be a great addition to our team," said Presnell. "She will play some at both forward positions for us. She can score averaging over 21 points per game last season."

Perkins is currently a senior at Kelso High School in Kelso, Wash., where she will graduate on June 12th. She is a four-year letterwinner and starter for the Highlanders' varsity basketball team playing in the post. Perkins was a three-time all-conference first team honoree and honorable mention once, the area player of the year as a junior, and the Greater St. Helens League Player of the Year as a senior this past winter. She was named team MVP her senior season and All-Area Winter Sports Athlete of the Year as a junior. Statistically, Perkins averaged 21.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, one assist, and 2.1 blocks per game as a senior and 18.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.2 steals as a junior. Perkins helped lead the Highlanders to an overall record of 65 wins and 36 defeats throughout her four-year career and a 17-6 mark as a senior. The team advanced to the district tournament each year making the regional round her junior season. Perkins' high school coach was Lacey Deweert. Perkins played AAU club ball the past two summers for the Columbia Cascades out of Vancouver, Wash. Her coach with the Cascades was Al Aldridge.
This brings next year's Boise State roster to 14 members with seven returning letterwinners from this past season's 19-12 team. The veterans back include seniors Melissa Rima and Janie Bos; juniors Heather Pilcher and Stacie Gross; and sophomores Julia Marshall, Kinzi Poteet, and Lauren Lenhardt. They will be joined by two redshirts, juniors Nicole Brady and Mandy Munns, and the five newcomers. Overall the new additions will give the roster a solid blind of experience and youth for the 2010-11 campaign.
