BOISE, Idaho - Gordy Presnell, Boise State's head women's basketball coach, announced today that Marta Hermida (Madrid, Spain) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Broncos. She is the third student-athlete to sign with the program for next year joining Joyce Harrell (Seattle, Wash.) and Jordan Tulley (Winnipeg, Manitoba) who signed last November. Hermida is the second foreign player in the class and will be the second player on the roster from Spain joining junior-to-be Yaiza Rodriguez Ortego (Barcelona, Spain).

"Marta is a long athletic, highly intelligent player that will make an immediate impact on our basketball team," said Presnell. "Marta is a multi-dimensional player. In addition, she is a great student and we are looking forward to her wearing the blue and orange!"

Hermida is a versatile 5-foot-11 player who can play anywhere from the point guard to wing positions. She excels on the fast break, runs the floor well, has a good mid-range jumper and is a solid 3-point shooter. Hermida's athleticism makes her a solid rebounder and good defender with the ability to go one-on-one.

She currently plays for Rivas Ecopolis located in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Spain. She has been with the club for three years and debuted for the club's top-flight team as a 16 year-old in 2013-14 when they won Spain's Liga Femenina 1 (first/top division league) championship. As a U18 player this year Hermida has remained on Rivas Ecopolis' top team where she has played on a regular basis.

Hermida was a member of the Madrid All State Team from 2009-2013 and has been in the Spanish junior national team program for the last three years.
