RENO, Nevada - The Boise State women's basketball team had its run in the 2006 Western Athletic Conference Championship come to an end Friday (March 10) as New Mexico State held on to defeat the Broncos, 60-59. The Broncos led by one at the half, 29-28, however New Mexico State put together a small run early in the second half to go up by eight and then held on for the one point victory.

New Mexico State outrebounded the Broncos 42-32, which gave the Aggies their slight edge in the game as neither team had a great day from the field. The Aggies shot 32 percent from the field (19-59) but 40 percent from three point range (8-20) and a strong 88 percent from the free throw line. The Broncos shot 39 percent from the floor (20-51) and a frustrating 28 percent from three-point range (5-18) and 78 percent from the free throw line.

The Broncos' Jackie Lee had 13 points and four rebounds while Michelle Hessing added 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks. New Mexico State's Monique Bribiescas led all scorers with 23 points and six rebounds while Jenean Ford added 16 points and seven rebounds. The Aggies' Sherell Neal grabbed 13 rebounds.

Boise State's two seniors, Benita Buggs and Heather Little, contributed a combined eight points and six rebounds for the team, playing in what ended as the final game of their careers.

Boise State finishes the season at an even 15-15, the best overall mark since 1999-00 when the Broncos went 14-14. Today also marks the first time the Bronco women's team has made it as far as the semifinal game of the WAC Tournament since joining the conference in 2001-02.
