What's Happening
  • Boise State will meet the New Mexico Lobos in the semifinals of the 2012 Mountain West Basketball Championships at 3:30 p.m. (Mountain) Friday afternoon in the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.  
  • Both teams advanced to the semifinals off upset victories in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. No. 7 UNM defeated the host team and No. 2 seed UNLV 61-58, while the No. 6 seeded Broncos knocked of No. 3 Colorado State 68-63.
  • Boise State enters the game at 15-15 overall, New Mexico is 10-19 on the year. The Broncos swept the regular season series between the two.
  • This is Boise State's first ever trip to the MW tournament after joining the league this past July.
  • Next Up For Boise State: If Boise State defeats UNM, the Broncos will play the winner of the San Diego State-Wyoming semifinal in the conference championship game at 2:00 p.m. (Mountain) Saturday afternoon.

Pregame Notes for New Mexico Contest
  • RECENTLY FOR BOISE STATE: Boise State defeated Colorado State 68-63 in MW quarterfinals on Wednesday. Prior to that the Broncos closed the regular season splitting its final two contests, defeating Wyoming 61-53 (Feb. 25) at home, followed by a 58-41 loss at San Diego State (Feb. 29).    
  • BOISE STATE'S RECORD: The Broncos are now 15-15 entering the UNM contest. They went 5-9 in conference, good for sixth-place.  
  • RECENTLY FOR NEW MEXICO: The Lobos upset UNLV 61-58 in MW quarterfinals. They closed the regular season with a pair of losses, 63-52 at home to TCU (Feb. 25) and 52-47 at Air Force (Feb. 29).
  • NEW MEXICO'S RECORD: UNM enters the semifinal at 10-19 overall. The Lobos finished league play at 3-11, seventh-place.
  • BRONCOS AT HOME: The Broncos finished the year 10-7 overall and 3-4 in MW play at home in Taco Bell Arena bringing their all-time mark to 254-132 (65.8 pct.) and 145-81 (64.2 pct.) in conference games since the facility opened in the fall of 1982.
  • BRONCOS ON THE ROAD: Boise State is 5-8 on the road this year, 4-8 on the opponents home court, 1-0 on neutral floors (MW tournament). The Broncos were 2-5 in conference games.
  • THE LOBOS ON THE ROAD: New Mexico is 4-9 away from The Pit in Albuquerque this season, 3-9 on opponents' courts, 1-0 on neutral floors (MW tournament) and 1-6 in MW games.
  • LEADING THE BRONCOS: Boise State is led by Kati Isham fourth in MW averaging 14.5 points per game and Lauren Lenhardt who is seventh in MW at 13.9 ppg. They have combined for 41 percent of the Broncos' points per game. Lenhardt was fifth in the MW for scoring during league games at 15.4 ppg powered by five games with 20-plus points.
  • LEADING THE LOBOS: Caroline Durbin leads UNM and ranks second in MW for scoring at 15.3 points per game, followed by Porche Torrance who is 13th in MW at 11.6 ppg.
  • COMPARING THE TEAMS: The game will feature Boise State's top-ranked scoring offense on the year at 68.2 points per game versus New Mexico's seventh ranked offense at 54.8 ppg.  Defensively, UNM ranks third allowing 56.8 ppg to the Broncos' 67 ppg, seventh in MW.
  • PRESEASON POLL: New Mexico was picked to place fourth in the MW race, while Boise State was projected at eighth in this year's preseason poll (combined coaches and media poll).
  • THE COACHES: Yvonne Sanchez is 10-19 (34.5 pct.) in her first year as a head coach, 0-2 versus Boise State. Gordy Presnell is in his seventh season at Boise State where he is 125-93 (57.4 pct.), 521-220 (70.3 pct.) in 25 seasons all-time, and 2-0 versus UNM.

Boise State Versus New Mexico Series
  • THE SERIES: Friday's encounter will be the third meeting of the season, third as conference rivals and fourth all-time in the series which Boise State leads 3-0.
  • 2012 SERIES: The Broncos won both meetings this year 65-46 in Boise (Jan. 11) and 68064 in Albuquerque (Feb. 4).
  • PRIOR TO 2012: Boise State won the only other meeting prior to this year was a 86-76 victory in Boise on Dec. 19, 1983.

What Happened in 2012 Between Boise State and New Mexico
  • THE SERIES: Boise State swept the series winning its MW debut game 65-48 in Boise on Jan. 11, notching the program's 600th victory all-time.  The second contest was a different story as the Broncos held off a late Lobo rally attempt from 15 down to win 68-64 in front of 6,725 UNM fans in Albuquerque.
  • GAME 1 - Jan. 11 in Boise: Boise State led the entire way and by as many as 25 points in the second period before settling for a 65-46 victory. Lauren Lenhardt led Boise State with 23 points and six boards, Kati Isham followed with 12 points. UNM was led by Porche Torrance with 17 points and 12 rebounds, Caroline Durbin added 13 points and seven boards.
  • GAME 2 - Feb. 4 in Albuquerque: The contest was close most of the way before the Broncos pulled out to a 15-point, 63-48, lead with 4:17 to play. The Lobos attempted to rally closing to within four as time ran out. Nicole Brady led Boise State with a season-high 19 points and team-high eight rebounds, Lenhardt added 16 followed by Isham with 13. Caroline Durbin Led UNM with 27 points, Torrance added 17 points and 15 boards.  
  • BOISE STATE LEADERS: Three Broncos averaged double figure points versus the Lobos led by Lauren Lenhardt at 19.5 ppg, Kati Isham was next at 12.5 ppg, Nicole Brady added 11 ppg and team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.
  • UNM LEADERS: Two Lobos averaged double digit scoring versus the Broncos, Caroline Durbin led with 20 ppg, followed by Porsche Torrance at 17 ppg and 13.5 rebounds per game.
