Bos records back-to-back double-doubles to earn award.

DENVER – Boise State junior forward/center Janie Bos has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of March 1-7. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor ever for Bos.

Bos, an Ontario, Calif., native, averaged 13.0 points, 14.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game while leading Boise State to a pair of wins last week. She shot 48 percent (10-of-21) from the field and 100 percent (6-of-6) from the free throw line on the week. Bos opened the week with 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a road win at Utah State. She came alive in the final minutes, scoring eight of the last 10 Bronco points, including converting four free throws on one-and-one situations. In an upset of LA Tech, she not only held first-team all-WAC performer Adrienne Johnson to 10 points, but she posted her second double-double of the week with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Other nominees included: Fresno State’s Jaleesa Ross scored 19 points in 18 minutes on 78 percent shooting as the Bulldogs closed out WAC play with a perfect 16-0 record … Charlotte Otero of Idaho averaged 18.0 points on 78 percent shooting and 5.5 assists as the Vandals went 1-1 on the week … Nevada’s Tahnee Robinson averaged 24.5 points and 8.0 rebounds as the Wolf Pack went 1-1 on the week … Crystal Boyd of New Mexico State averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week … Utah State’s Banna Diop averaged 9.5 points and 7.0 as the Aggies went 1-1 last week.
