Three Broncos earn first career postseason WAC honors.

The Western Athletic Conference released its 2009 postseason honors for women’s basketball this afternoon and among those named were three Broncos senior Jenna Galassi and freshmen Heather Pilcher and Courtney VanBrocklin. These are the first collegiate postseason honors for all three Boise State players as Galassi was named to the WAC’s all-defensive team while Pilcher and VanBrocklin made the all-freshmen team.

Jenna Galassi becomes the second Bronco all-time to be named to the WAC’s all-defensive team joining Tasha Harris who made the squad in 2008. Galassi is one of two players to start every game this season for Boise State recording 130 points, 120 rebounds, 36 assists, and 33 steals.

Heather Pilcher and Courtney VanBrocklin are the fifth and sixth Broncos to ever be named to the WAC’s all-freshmen team joining teammates Tasha Harris (2005) and Jessica Thompson (2006) who are both former honorees. Both played in every game this season for Boise State and earned seven starts, all during conference competition. Pilcher ranks second on the team for scoring averaging 9.0 points accumulating 269 points, 52 rebounds, 54 assists, seven blocks, and 45 steals. VanBrocklin ranks fourth on the team in scoring at 7.4 points per game while recording 223 points, 121 rebounds, 59 assists, one block, and 34 steals.
