SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Boise State ended the regular season with a 58-41 defeat at Mountain West champion San Diego State Wednesday night in southern California. The Broncos fought hard but it just was not their night as they struggled getting shots to fall finishing the contest hitting 28.9 percent from the floor.

Freshman Keiahnna Engel led Boise State by scoring all of her team-high 10 points in the second period. She shot three-of-six from the floor and went perfect from the free-throw line hitting all four attempts. The Anchorage, Alaska, native added five rebounds and team-high three assists to her stat line.

Senior Kati Isham followed with nine points and four rebounds, while Lauren Lenhardt added seven points and team-high 10 rebounds. Kinzi Poteet chipped in five points and eight boards, Nicole Brady had six points and four rebounds.

The first half was a struggle for the Broncos who opened with the first points of the contest on  a Nicole Brady jumper at the 17:42 mark. Boise State then went on a drought of 11:24 before its next field goal came when Cinnamon Lister hit a mid-range jumper with 6:18 left. The only points in that span were three Kinzi Poteet free throws. The Aztecs finished the period doubling-up the Broncos at halftime 28-14 on the scoreboard.

The second 20 minutes saw the teams traded mini runs for most of it before San Diego State started to pull away down the stretch. The closest the Broncos came in the period was 12 points on several occasions, their largest deficit was 22 with 3:41 remaining.

Boise State finished the night shooting 28.9 percent from the floor, did not hit a 3-pointer going 0-12, and went 78.9 percent (15-19) from the foul line. SDSU countered with 45.3 percent shooting from the court, 25 percent (4-16) from beyond the arc and 46.2 percent (6-13) from the charity stripe.

Courtney Clements, the MW leading scorer, led the Aztecs with 22 points, followed by Chelsea Hopkins with 12. No other Aztecs were in double-figure scoring.

It was a season-low in points for the Broncos who dropped to 14-15 on the year and 5-9 in MW play. They will enter next week's conference tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Colorado State (13-16, 9-5 MW) in the last quarterfinal on Wednesday night, tip is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. (Mountain) in the Thomas and Mack Center on the UNLV campus.
