Brady hits four 3-pointers for team-high 12 points.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (2/26/2011) - Boise State University’s women’s basketball team turned in a solid team effort shooting 51 percent from the floor as the Broncos snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 83-69 victory at San Jose State University Saturday night. Nicole Brady went four-of-five from the 3-point arc for a team-high 12 points followed by Kati Isham and Cinnamon Lister with 11 each. The victory improves Boise State to 12-16 overall and 3-11 in WAC play, moving them closer to earning a berth into next month’s conference tournament at Las Vegas.
Boise State was sluggish in the early moments of the game. After Heather Pilcher hit the first basket of the game, the Broncos missed seven of their next eight shots to find themselves in a nine-point hole down 13-4 seven minutes into the contest.
Down nine, Boise State regrouped to rally with a 13-3 run to take a 17-16 lead by the 9:30 mark. The two teams then traded baskets until 5:26 was showing on the clock when San Jose State’s Marnesha Hall hit a 3-pointer to put the Spartans up 22-21. That would prove to be the last SJSU lead of the game as the Broncos seized control. Boise State closed the half on a 13-2 run which gave the visitors a 10-point 34-24 advantage at the break.
Boise State opened the second half with Lauren Lenhardt scoring the first four points of the period to go up 14, 38-24, two minutes into the period. The Broncos maintained a double-digit lead for most of the first 15 minutes of the final half including a game-high 15-point advantage at 51-36 with 13:34 to go.
Each time the Spartans made a run the Broncos answered to keep San Jose State at a distance. Boise State’s last field goal of the game was Brady’s fourth 3-pointer of the night with 5:57 left for a 70-56 Bronco lead. SJSU’s last charge followed as the Spartans rolled off a 8-1 run to pull to within seven at 71-64 with 3:33 remaining.
Boise State held off San Jose State from the free-throw line as the Spartans reverted to fouling in an effort to get back into the game. The Broncos hit 13 of 16 free throws in the final five and a half minutes to get the victory. Freshman point guard Cinnamon Lister was huge down the stretch converting nine-of-10 attempts from the charity stripe, five-of-six in the final 1:01 of the game.
The bench was big for Boise State as well outscoring San Jose State’s 48-0 in bench points. The game was a turnover plagued contest as they combined for 40 between them, the Broncos had 19 but managed to outscore the Spartans 20 to 11 in points off turnovers.

Boise State also shot well from the 3-point arc going for a season-high 45.5 percent (10-22), they went six-of-10 in the final period.
