Broncos Rally from 13 Down to Defeat Wyoming
Poteet scores career-high 18 points to lead Broncos.

BOISE, Idaho -- The Broncos finished the first half with a season low 17 points on their last home stand for senior day. Head coach Gordy Presnell had words for his women in the locker room before taking the court for the second half against the Wyoming Cowgirls.
"Disappointed in our energy and our enthusiasm for three seniors on their way out," Presnell said of their first half efforts. "So we just kind of stressed that. They deserve better effort than that."
Seniors Nicole Brady, Kati Isham, and Heather Pilcher were in the midst of playing their final game at Taco Bell Arena. His words inspired a second half surge led by an 18 point career-high game by junior forward Kinzi Poteet. The Broncos were victorious, 61-53.
"Our shot was definitely not falling in the first half and you could see that in the point differentiation," Poteet said. "We knew we had to get inside because we really couldn't stop it. We just needed to get points and keep banging inside and that's what we did."
Pilcher put two exclamation points on the Broncos' win. The first came with 3:34 left to put them ahead, 52-49, for the first time in the game. The second came to score her final points on her home court with 0:01 left to post the final points of the contest.
"That's the last one here," Pilcher said. "It was just like 'this is it' at the end of the game clock. Most would be like 'Don't do that. We've already won the game'. This is it for me. You guys have got more baskets to put in and I don't."
The Broncos shot just 22.6 percent during the first half. Isham scored nine first half points of her 16 to keep Boise State in the contest. They improved to 46.2 percent to record a much more efficient second half effort.
Most of the Cowgirl's offense came from Chaundra Sewell who had 27 points and 15 rebounds. The Broncos were able to counter her efforts with stifling defense after the break, holding Wyoming to 32 percent shooting.
The win was the largest come from behind victory of the season, overcoming a 13 point deficit. The win halts a three-game losing streak and gives the Broncos (14-14, 5-8 MWC) some steam before traveling to Mountain West Conference leader San Diego State (21-6, 11-2 MWC) Wednesday.
"We need some confidence," Poteet said. "I think this game really gives us confidence, to get a win under our belt. San Diego State is really good. We know that going into it but I think we're a little more confident and a little more ready. In the tournament anything can happen. It's good to have that win."
The win secured a sixth seed spot for the Broncos when they travel to the league tournament next month. They will face either Colorado State or host UNLV, pending results from this weeks showdowns.
