BOISE, Idaho (2/19/2011) - A poor second half cost Boise State in its home finale as Nevada pulled away for a 74-57 victory over the Broncos in Taco Bell Arena Saturday night at Boise. The Broncos opened with intensity and battled hard during the first 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the turnover bug struck again allowing the Wolf Pack to take control midway through the first half. Boise State trailed by nine at halftime and by 20 late in the game as the Broncos fell to 11-16 overall and 2-11 in Western Athletic Conference play. Lauren Lenhardt scored a team-high 14 points followed by Janie Bos with 13 on her senior night.

The first half went back and forth with three ties and five lead changes. Boise State played well for most of the period and led for six minutes before taking a game-high lead of four points at 21-17 with 8:16 left.

The turnover bug then hit the Broncos as Nevada rallied with a 10-1 run to take a 27-22 lead with 5:14 showing on the clock. The Wolf Pack eventually took a period-high nine-point, 40-31, advantage into the break.

Lauren Lenhardt led Boise State at the half with seven points going three-for-three from the floor and hitting her lone free throw, Janie Bos added six points. Nevada only had three players score in the first half led by Tahnee Robinson with 18 points, Nicole Williams had 12 and Shavon Moore followed with 10.

Boise State shot 48 percent from the floor (12-25), 40 percent (2-5) from the arc and 71.4 percent (5-7) from the line. Nevada countered with 45.5 percent (15-33) from the court, 44.4 percent (4-9) from beyond the 3-point line and 60 percent (6-10) from the charity stripe.

The Wolf Pack opened the second half on a 4-0 run to take a quick double-figure lead less than two minutes into the period. The Broncos rallied pulling to within six points, 44-38, with 16:22 left. That was the closest they would get in the final 16 minutes but managed to stay in the contest by keeping their deficit between seven and 11 points until the nine minute mark.

Down eight points, 57-49, with nine minutes on the clock the Broncos struggled with their touch and ball control. Boise State scored eight points in the final nine minutes of play, while Nevada rolled off 17 to stretch its lead to a game-high 20 points with nine seconds to play. Bos hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the final margin to 17 points at 74-57.

Lenhardt led Boise State with 14 points and three rebounds, followed by Bos with 13 points and team-high five rebounds. Kati Isham added eight points and two boards. No one else had more than six points for the Broncos who shot 39.1 percent (18-46) from the floor, 40 percent (4-10) from the 3-point arc and 73.9 percent (17-23) from the free-throw line.

Robinson led Nevada with 27 points and team-high eight rebounds. Nicole Williams added 18 points and five rebounds, followed by Shavon Moore who finished with 14 points and seven boards. The Wolf Pack finished the night shooting 43.3 percent (26-60) from the floor, 40 percent (6-15) from the arc and 69.6 percent (16-23) from the foul line.

Rebounding was close with Nevada holding a 33 to 29 edge overall, second chance points were even at eight apiece. Turnovers were costly once again for Boise State who gave it away 23 times accounting for 24 Wolf Pack points. Boise State’s bench was solid out scoring Nevada’s 27 to 10.

Boise State will travel to San Jose State next Saturday for the Broncos lone game of the week.
