Lenhardt scores team-high 23 points to lead Boise State.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Tied at 59 with 3:53 to go and momentum going their way, the Broncos faded down the stretch as TCU held on for a four-point 73-69 win in a Mountain West women's basketball game Saturday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas. The Broncos turned the ball over 25 times, including three crucial ones in the final three minutes after they tied the game, as TCU rallied with an 8-0 run to seize control of the contest at 67-59 with two minutes to play.

Lauren Lenhardt attempted to rally the Broncos with a team-high 23 points and 10 of Boise State's final 15 points but it was not enough. The junior went eight-of-13 from the floor, three-of-four from the arc and four-of-five from the free-throw line. Kati Isham followed Lenhardt with 16 points going six-of-13 from the floor with four 3-pointers.

The loss drops the Broncos to 13-13 overall and 4-7 in Mountain West play. TCU improved to 13-13 on the year and 6-5 in league.

Up two at 15-13 with 11:33 to go in the opening period, Boise State ran off a 10-2 run to take a half-high 10-point lead at 25-15 with just under five minutes to go. The Horned Frogs rallied cutting it to a two-point game at 26-24 with 36 seconds left before Lauren Lenhardt hit her second field goal of the contest giving the Broncos a four-point, 28-24, advantage at halftime.

The first half was a friendly one as the teams combined for 27 turnovers, with the Broncos giving it away 15 times. Fortunately, TCU only held a 10 to nine edge in points off turnovers at the break. Boise State shot well in the period converting 47.8 percent (11-23) from the floor with three-of-four shooting from beyond the arc. TCU shot 38.5 percent from the floor at half.

It was a balanced scoring effort at the half with the leaders for Boise State being Brady with seven, Pilcher and Lenhardt six each, followed by  Isham with five.

The second 20 minutes saw TCU take advantage of Boise State's turnovers as the Horned Frogs scored 18 of their 49 second half points on Bronco giveaways. The momentum went back and forth throughout with TCU holding the lead most of the period.

With the contest tied at 39 all with 14:21 to go, the Horned Frogs took their first lead since early in the first half with a Ashley Colbert layup at the 13:42 mark. Boise State tied it on the next possession but TCU maintained a one to five point advantage after that until the eight minute mark.

Isham scored five straight points on a 3-pointer and short jumper to tie the game at 52 with 8:03 remaining.  Diana Lee hit a long jumper shortly after and to give the Broncos a 54-52 lead.

The teams then traded four lead changes and one tie in the next five minutes. Lenhardt hit a 3-pointer to tie the game for the last time at 59 all with 3:53 on the clock. Unfortunately, turnovers crushed the Broncos all game including three in the final two and a half minutes of the contest.

With the game tied at 59, TCU rolled off a 8-0 run to seize control up 67-59 with 2:03 to play. The Horned Frogs then held off the Broncos from the foul line hitting six-of-six in the next minute to take a game-high 12 point lead at 73-61 with 1:01 left.

Isham and Lenhardt combined for eight points in the final minute but the lead was too large by then to overcome as TCU won by four 73-69.

On the day Boise State out shot TCU hitting 48.1 percent from the floor, 41.7 percent (10-24) from the 3-point arc, tying for the season-high in 3-pointers made. The Frogs went 45.3 percent from the floor and 25 percent (5-20) from the arc.

In the end, free throws and turnovers were what killed the Broncos. They were out scored by 13 from the free-throw line as TCU (20-30) took 19 more attempts than Boise State (7-11). The Broncos also turned the ball over 25 times to TCU's 19, but the Frogs took advantage of their opportunities out scoring the Blue and Orange 28 to 21 in points off turnovers.

Boise State will close the home slate this coming week when they host UNLV on Wednesday and Wyoming on Saturday at Taco Bell Arena.
