LAS CRUCES, N.M. (2/6/2010) - Boise State’s shot failed them at the wrong time as the Broncos faltered down the stretch in a 85-76 loss at New Mexico State in Las Cruces Saturday night. The road woes continue for the Broncos who watched a 10-point second half lead evaporate as the Aggies rallied for the win in the Pan American Center. Melissa Rima led Boise State with a career night on 24 points and 12 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season and second of her career.
The game was a battle from the start and by the end of the 40 minutes the contest saw seven ties and 16 leads changes. The largest lead of the night was a 10-point Boise State advantage at 53-43 with 14:54 to play. The Aggies largest lead was nine points which they had three late in the game.

The Broncos briefly regained the lead when Rima hit two free throws with 8:48 left making the score 61-60. The Fairbanks, Alaska native played fearless tonight driving consistently into traffic to finished the night hitting a career high 16 free throws on 19 attempts.
Unfortunately, the Aggies Danisha Corbett responded with back-to-back 3-pointers to give NMSU a 66-61 lead with 7:38 on the clock. The first gave the Aggies the lead for good.
Boise State had opportunities down the stretch but failed to convert on them as the missed numerous close range shots and committed a few turnovers. Meanwhile, New Mexico State slowly extended its lead to a NMSU-high nine points with 1:01 to go. The Aggies closed the game out scoring the Broncos 25-10 in the final eight minutes, they hit five 3-pointers in that stretch and went 8-of-13 in the second half from beyond the arc.
